With 10 seconds left, Taina Mair stole the inbounds pass and banked in a 3 to put Brooks up 60-59 in the closing seconds of Saturday's NEPSAC Class B semifinals. Proctor's last-second half-court heave was off the mark, as Brooks held on for the dramatic win and will play St. Luke's in the finals on Sunday at 3:15 p.m.

Dewey leads Brooks

Samantha Dewey erupted for 29 points as top-seeded Brooks rolled past Cushing 79-52 in the NEPSAC Class B first round. Sydney Robinson added 14 points for Brooks, which next hosts Proctor Academy on Saturday (time TBA).

Madigan leads Brooks

 

Senior Molly Madigan of North Andover had five 3-pointers and scored a career-high 16 points on senior night at Brooks (16-8) ended the regular season with an 81-25 romp over St. Mark's. Pairings will come out on Sunday for the NEPSAC playoffs.

Cordes hits 1,000

Brooke Cordes came out of halftime one point shy of reaching 1,000 for her career, but caught a pass early in the third from Taina Mair and drilled a 3 from the top of the key to reach the milestone in Brooks' 55-49 loss to Thayer. The North Andover native finished with 22 points, and became just the fourth girl in Brooks history to reach the 1,000-point plateau.

Emma Riley "brought a spark today," said Brooks girls basketball coach Ushearnda Reynolds, scoring a season-high 15 points to help lead a 61-53 wire-to-wire win over Dexter Southfield. Samantha Dewey scored 14 points and North Andover's Brooke Cordes chipped in 11.

Eddy steps up

With star guard Taina Mair out with an ankle injury, Haverhill's Kendall Eddy stepped up in a big way with a season-high 15 points to lead Brooks to a 63-31 win over Middlesex. North Andover's Brooke Cordes also added 15 points for Brooks, which is thankfully expecting Mair back for its game against BB&N on Wednesday.

Brooks wins first Ray Brown tourney

The Brooks girls basketball team won three games by a combined 138 points over the last two days to win its first ever Ray Brown Holiday Tournament. Taina Mair was named MVP of the 32nd annual tournament after averaging 18.0 points over the three games. Brooks has also started its season 7-0 for the first time since 2001.

Knocking off champs

The Brooks girls basketball team remained unbeaten with a 75-62 win over defending Prep Class B champion Groton, which only lost two players from last year's squad. Samantha Dewey (31 points, 6 rebounds), Taina Mair (18 points, 8 boards, 8 assists) and North Andover's Brooke Cordes (12 points, 12 boards) led the way for Brooks (4-0).
