NASHUA – Salem went on the road for the first round of the New Hampshire playoffs feeling a lot more confident than a squad sitting a game above .500 and seeded 13th in a 15-team field.

Salem closed out the regular season with a 48-45 win over Manchester Central. Michael Ference had 17 points and Trevor DeMinico 14 in the win.

Michael Ference scored 17 points and Salem's boys used a 21-point third quarter for a big 53-51 win over a strong Concord club.

Trevor DeMinico tossed in 22 points and John Bennett added 14 to power Salem to a 59-44 win over Timberlane. Kyle Ventola had 12 for the Owls.

Trailing by nine entering the fourth quarter, the Salem boys basketball team fought back to send the game into overtime before holding on to beat Manchester Memorial, 57-56. Adan Ayala had 16 points to lead the Blue Devils (7-6, 5-5 NH) to their third straight win.

Trevor DeMinico poured in 22 points as Salem coasted past struggling Londonderry, 71-47.

DERRY – A couple of New Hampshire teams that have had inconsistent season starts hooked up Friday night.

And while the first three quarters were indicative of their early play, Salem and Pinkerton put together a scintillating final period, combining for 50 points.

Riley Desmarais hit a Hail Mary at the half (it was at least 75-feet, said coach E.J. Perry) to give Windham a 22-15 lead and the momentum. Salem battled back but missed a 35-foot buzzer-beater and the Jags prevailed 55-52. Desmarais (19 points, 4-5 3's, 4 assists), Westin Lippold (12 points). Luke Schramm (9 rebounds) and Desmarais played all 32 minutes. Trevor DeMinico (14) and Michael Ference (12) led Salem. 

SALEM — Unlike a year ago, when the Salem boys basketball team advanced to the Division 1 finals, it is not likely to be involved in many lopsided victories.

With little experience and even less size, it's just not possible.

Trevor DeMinico poured in 21 points and Michael Ference added 20 as Salem cruised past Bedford, 72-62.
