Pinkerton advances

The Pinkerton boys volleyball team defeated Londonderry 25-15, 25-20, 25-19 to advance to the semifinals. Spencer Taylor (15 service points, nine kills) and Steve Curry (nine kills, three aces) had big games for the Astros, as did Frank Wallack, who finished with 12 assists.

No. 90 in a row Another regular season ended in perfection for the Salem boys volleyball team which swept Londonderry 25-11, 25-14, 25-16 to improve to 16-0 with its 90th straight victory. "With this group, starting five juniors, I think this is a great accomplishment," said Salem coach E.J. Perry. "A lot of people thought we were going to be too inexperienced this year, but we have a talented junior class that is going to get better." Jason Kinney led the Blue Devils with 15 kills and Chukwuemeka Okeke had nine blocks. Salem now has 10 days off before gearing for its fifth straight state title.

Rally for Londonderry

With Londonderry trailing in the final set, Matt Adams recorded six straight service points, then hammered home the match point as the Lancers downed Oyster River 25-15, 15-25, 25-22, 25-22. They also rallied back from a 2-9 deficit in the third game.

Salem improves to 6-0 with win over Londonderry

Behind the dynamic duo of Dan Tiner (15 kills, three blocks) and Jason Kinney (12 kills, seven blocks), Salem improved to 6-0 while sending Londonderry to 0-4. Sean Stewart jump served 10 points and also chipped in seven digs. Chris Barnes had 29 assists and four blocks. Londonderry was led by Will White (eight kills) and Matt Hersey (five kills, two blocks). Salem's undefeated streak was upped to 80 with the win.

Pinkerton rolled past Londonderry 25-20, 25-14, 25-16. Spencer Taylor had 10 kills, Alex Rees collected 11 kills to help the Astros improve to 3-1.  The Lancers dropped to 0-3.

Timberlane swept Londonderry 25-16, 25-11, 25-15. Alex Mill contributed seven kills and six blocks. Tim Anderson added six kills and 10 service points while Terry Matatall added 10 kills and eight blocks. Scott Gillman smashed eight kills and Connor Dube dished out 28 assists.
