Thibault erupts

Potts comes home

Andover's Matt Potts led off the seventh with a single, stole second, advanced to third on a ground out and scored the winning run on a two-out bunt single by Daniel Walsh to beat Methuen 4-3. Cedric Gillette tallied eight strikeouts and allowed just three runs (all unearned) and two hits over six innings.

Merrimack sweeps

 Merrimack College swept Bentley College in softball, 3-2 and 7-3.

 

Continuing to be red-hot as it nears the midway point of the season, the Merrimack College softball team registered its eighth consecutive victory and its fourth straight win since opening Northeast-10 Conference divisional play with a sweep at Bentley, 3-2 and 7-3, on Wednesday afternoon.
