Methuen Rangers Girls Volleyball '10

Central rolls

The Central Catholic girls volleyball team had no problem with local rival Methuen in the first round of the Division 1 North tournament, rolling to a 25-23, 25-15, 25-22 victory. Kendall Desrosiers led the way for the Raiders (16-4), who will host Billierca Tuesday, with 12 kills and 11 service points that included five aces.

Murach great in loss

Courtney Murach led Methuen with 17 service points and 10 aces, but unfortunately the Rangers lost to Acton-Boxborough 3-2. If Methuen wins against Lawrence tomorrow, the Rangers will qualify for the torunament.

Individual career days, but Methuen falls.

Casey Scarelli had 10 kills and Courtney Bradley added eight more but it wasn't enough for Methuen in a 3-2 loss to Billerica. Game scores were 19-25, 25-20, 25-22, 13-25, 15-6.

Brogan brings it

Andover remained perfect with a 25-15, 25-21, 25-18 win over Methuen. Elise Brogan and Moira Cronin starred at the net vs. Methuen's towering front line. The Golden Warriors have a big game today vs. non-league rival North Andover at 6:30  p.m. in Andover and on Monday they host the "Volley for Molly" fundraiser vs. Lexington at 6:30 p.m.

Methuen volleyball beat Reading 3-1 today, but not without some drama. Down 22-17 in game four, Courtney Murach of Methuen served five straight aces to tie the game, and then they cruised to the 25-22 win.
