Cronin, Desrosiers, Lawrence 4x100 team win New England titles

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. — Andover junior high jumper Moira Cronin (5-9), Salem junior discus thrower Amy Desrosiers (123-10) and Lawrence's 4x100 relay team of Jean Zorilla, Francesco Cuesta, Christian Reyes and Francis Nova (43.06) won their specialties at the 65th annual New England Track Championships.

Higgins triples up

Salem's Melissa Higgins was unstoppable, winning the long jump, 300 hurdles and 200 meters, but the heroics weren't enough for the Blue Devil girls, who fell to Pinkerton, 87-58.

High-flying Higgins

 

Melissa Higgins piled up the points with three wins, lifting the Salem girls to a 95.5-49.5 win over Concord. Higgins, who cruised in the 300 hurdles and long jump, turned in a seasonal best clocked of 26.6 to take the 200.

Higgins be-Devils Londonderry

Melissa Higgins won the long jump (16-7), 400 (61.78), 200 (27.75) and ran the anchor leg of the wnning 4x100 relay as Salem slid past Londonderry 73 1/2-71 1/2. For the Lancers, Briana Devereaux won the pole vault, high jump, 800 and ran on the winning 4x400 relay.
