Despite loss, bench players step up

Andover volleyball had four injured starters on its bench in a 3-2 loss to Lowell. Some of the players with lesser roles stepped up for the Golden Warriors. Will Gold, who does not normally start, played at outside hitter and had eight kills. Joe Sievers, who also does not start, stepped in at the other outside hitter position and had seven saves. Meanwhile, Jake Sam, who does not play much, came off the bench to record 12 service points and one ace.

Nice move

Methuen sophomore Kyle Mansour, a first year varsity player, was moved from opposite to middle after Methuen lost its first game to Andover. The move proved to be a smart one as Mansour recorded six blocks to help Andover win the next three straight games to win the match 3-1.

Andover volleyball opens in style

With a new head coach and just two players back from last season, Andover needed a big opening statement. And the Golden Warriors found just that last night, opening the season with an impressive 25-10, 25-10, 19-25, 25-19 victory over Greater Lowell.
