Cassey Gloade continued her outstanding freshman season, going 3 for 4 with three RBIs and two runs as Whittier downed Andover 7-5. April Richardson was 4 for 4 with two RBIs for the Wildcats.

Andover foiled

 

A win by the Andover softball team would have qualified it for the state tournament, by finishing second in the MVC small, but Lawrence foiled the Warriors with a 7-1 victory. Jocelyn Valerio led the Lancers with three hits, three RBIs and a great catch in the outfield.

Key hits from Shannon Murphy (leadoff double in the six-run fourth inning), Shannon Tully (RBI single in the fourth) and Molly Awiszus (run-scoring single in the five-run fifth) led Andover to a 14-6 victory over Notre Dame.

Corrine Gosselin drove in over half of Central Catholic's 15 runs yesterday, racking up eight RBIs. As if the three RBI doubles and the RBI single she had earlier in the game weren't enough, she capped off the Raider's shutout with a grand slam in the sixth inning.

Sweet revenge

Haverhill's softball team lost a heartbreaker to Andover earlier in the year, but a 10-run second inning provided a cuahion in the rematch and provided for a 15-8 victory. Samantha Streletski paced the offense with three hits and five RBIs and freshman Kailey Suplinskas allowed only three hits to pick up the win.

Katie Kucharski provided one of Andover's few highlights in a 16-0, five-inning loss to Tewksbury, making an outstanding running catch in center field and throwing out a Redman runner at third base for a double play.

First year fireworks

A pair of freshmen lit up North Andover's offense in a 17-6 pounding of Andover. Courtney Green's bases-loaded triple in the third inning put the game out of reach, and teammate Sara McCarthy tacked on some insurance with a two-run double in the fifth. Senior Jess Musto led the Golden Warriors with two hits and a pair of RBIs.

Okun starts, delivers

Andover junior Samantha Okun, playing as a designated hitter, had a three-run triple and had the pivotal hit in the top of the seventh with a two-run double as the Warriors rallied past Haverhill 12-11 for their first win of the season. Irena Kushner added three hits and two RBIs and Abby Taylor picked up the win with two innings of relief. Beth Strong continued to hit the ball hard for Haverhill.
