Andover loses third straight

Andover lost 51-44 to Lowell for its third straight defeat. "We're in a rut," assistant coach Alan Hibino said. "We've loss three in a row but we get back at Monday against North Andover. ... We just have to get better defensively." Lowell qualified for the North sectional tournament with the victory.

Vonleh posts double-double

Freshman Noah Vonleh scored 19 points and grabbed 12 rebounds but it was not enough as Haverhill lost 62-60 to Lowell. The game went back and forth before Lowell, who hit 11 3-pointers on the night, took a six-point lead with about two minutes left. The Hillies drew within two points with a couple seconds left but Lowell then ran the clock out.

Pereyra's hot tip

One of the smallest players on the floor, Lawrence's Dawrin Pereyra - at 5-foot-7 - tipped in a miss at the final buzzer, giving the Lancers a 62-60 win at Lowell. Michael Calzetta powered the Lawrence attack with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Jaylen Alicea added 13 points and seven assists.

If he wasn't scoring....

Joe Bramanti had his hand in 14 of Andover's 23 field goals during last night's 61-48 win over Lowell. The junior guard scored 20 points on seven field goals (one was a 3-point play) and he dished off seven assists.  For good measure, Bramanti pulled down 11 rebounds. Brian Miller added 17 for the Golden Warriors.

Just short

Even with Lowell lighting up the scoreboard with eight 3-pointers, Methuen had the game's last possession with a chance to tie things up. The 3-pointer missed the mark and the Rangers dropped a 46-43 decision. Raudy Minaya had 16 points to lead Methuen.
