Salem ousted in OT

No. 4 Exeter scored off a corner with 3:44 left in overtime to win 2-1 and end No. 5 Salem's season at the quarterfinals of the Class L tournament.

"We had our scoring opportunites but we just didn't capitalize on them," Salem coach John Gatsas said. "We had some shots but we didn't follow up on a few. A couple shots went wide. We had their goalie out of position a few times and we shot it wide."

Salem heads for States

Salem finished their regular season with a 3-0 win over Dover, there record of 10-3-1, leaves them 4th in the state, if they stay there they will get a by in the up comming state tourney. Worst case they will be 5th, it depends on Exeter who still has 2 games in hand. Todays win was paced by three goal scorers: Chelsea Muldowney, Sarah Frahm and Megan Bench.

Junior Kati Orban, who went the distance for the first time this season, was more than up to the task, turning aside 10 shots in unbeaten Timberlane's 2-0 win over Salem. Orban and Rachel Guerin (knee), who should be back for the next game, have combined for eight shutouts. Emily Cannon had a goal and an assist.

Danielle Ferraro broke up a halftime scoreless deadlock and Salem's offense exploded, running away from Bishop Guertin for a 3-0 victory. Shayla DeRosa, Sara Bracken and Taylor Buatti played extremely well defensively to help keep the Blue Devils (7-2-1) on top.

Sophomore Danielle Ferraro scored 21 seconds into the game and the rout was on in Salem's 8-0 field hockey triumph over Nashua South. Sarah Frahm had two goals and an assist for the Blue Devils (5-1) and Brittney Hall was a defensive stalwart in the win.

Salem breaks through

After coming close but not being able to break the goal line through the first game plus a half, Salem's field hockey team finally broke through and did so in a big way — scoring three times during a win over Nashua North. Chelsea Muldowney ended Salem's 92 minutes without a score and Danielle Ferraro and Megan Martineau added the insurance.
