Pinkerton's Laurel Salladay won No. 1 singles, and teamed with Summer Burns to take No. 1 doubles, but the No. 5 Astros fell to No. 4 Bishop Guertin 7-2 in the first round of the Class L tournament.

Manchester Central 7, Pinkerton 2

Pinkerton dropped its first place showdown match with Manchester Central, but Maggie Preece put the finishing touches on a perfect season (14-0) at No. 6 singles - winning by an 8-2 margin.  Gasey Gillman had the other win for the 12-2 Astros.

Bishop Guertin 5, Pinkerton 4

Two close victories in doubles lifted Bishop Guertin to a 5-4 victory and knocked Pinkerton from the ranks of the undefeated. Laurel Salladay continued her fine season with an 8-1 win at first singles, joining with Summer Burns to also triumph at first doubles, 8-0 for the Astros (11-1).

Even with a juggled lineup, Pinkerton's girls tennis team remained unbeaten with a convincing 8-1 triumph over Manchester West. Playing her first varsity match due to illness, sophomore Julie Accardo came up big at sixth singles with a shutout win.

Pinkerton's Cara Copeland and Nadia Sheen couldn't have picked a better way to kick off the season.

With the meet tied going into the final match, Copeland and Sheen teamed to take No. 3 doubles 8-3 and clinch the Astros' season-opening 5-4 win over Alvirne.
