Tritto, Duren shine at D1 North Meet

 NORTH ANDOVER — It was a hectic 15 minutes for Dominic Tritto, who was nursing a sore hamstring and competing in two events at the Division 1 North track meet at the same time Saturday morning.

One of three competitors left in the high jump, the Central Catholic senior was called to the long jump area 30 yards away for his first attempt in his flight. Three minutes after that leap left him in sixth, Tritto was preparing a try at his personal best with a 6-4 high-jump attempt.

Owen triple winner

Molly Owen had a day to remember by sweeping the throws, including a big 113-10 in the javelin, as Haverhill rolled to a 100-32 win over Methuen. Meghan Dellea and Ivy Ackerman went 1-2 in both hurdles events. Methuen's Lauren Schena had a breakthrough in the 800.

O'Neil, Simonds shine

Courtney O'Neil (93-0 winning throw), Jenna Bard and Ainsley Chittick again led a sweep in the discus and North Andover topped Haverhill, 102-34. Olivia Siwicki and Ella Slayton were other NA stars. Finleigh Simonds smashed the Haverhill 800 record (2:15.75, 5th all-time in area) and Molly Owen was a double winner.

Duran sisters surge

Katharine Duran once again dominated by winning the long jump (17-7), 100 hurdles (14.4) and 200 (25.2) while her sister Janessa Duren took the 400 hurdles (70.7) as Central Catholic beat their hometown Haverhill 80-65. Molly Owen led the Hillies, winning the discus (83-1) and javelin (107-5).
