'Cats roll at 'Yell'

 

Whittier Tech romped to the title at the Travis Yell Duals to cap a tremendous 26-2 dual-meet season, which is believed to be a school record. The Wildcats crushed the competition, including Masconomet in the finals, 55-27.

Whittier romps 4 times

 

Whittier Tech romped to four wins in a five-team meet at Tri-County to improve tio an area-best 20-2. The Wildcats scored at least 51 points in every meet and twice hit 70. Javier Cepeda at 132 was one of five wrestlers who were 4-0 on the day.

Whittier 2nd in Voke

 

Whittier Tech used its team balance to finish second in the State Vocational Tournament that was won by Shawsheen. The Wildcats had no champions but had a whopping 12 placers paced by runner-up heavyweight Erickson Rivas. Sebastien Boisvert, Youscarl Nina (120), Lukas Rousseau (138), Ethan Calderwood (145) and Anthony Moran (170) all took third place.

'Cats roll on

 

Whittier Tech's wrestling team romped over Greater Lowell (55-19) and Northeast (68-12) to improve to 16-2 on the year. Six different Wildcats were 2-0 on the day.

Collazo sparks Whittier

 

It was a good day for Whittier Tech Saturday at the Dan Gionet Tournament in Pelham and an even better day for Wildcat junior Jeremias Collazo.

Collazo won the 160-pound title in dramatic fashion, winning 5-4 in the semifinals and then 10-8 in overtime over Pelham's Evan Haskins and was then named the tourney Outstanding Wrestler. That highlighted a fine team performance as the Wildcats finished second to Tyngsboro in the 15-team field.

Maslanek still unbeaten

 

Pelham's Conor Maslanek remained unbeaten with another dominating performance, recording two pins, a tech. fall and major decision to take the 195-pound title at the Chelmsford Invitational.  Evan Haskins picked up a third for the Pythons at 160 and Nick Carroll was fourth at 182.

Surging Whittier Tech improved to 14-1 with a 66-12 romp over Greater Lawrence. There were no decisions and 12 pins in the match, including 10 by Whittier, the fastest being in 50 seconds by 182-pounder Jack Lemarier.

Whittier rolls on

 

Surprising Whittier Tech won three more meets, including a 49-24 decision over North Andover for its second in over an MVC school in three days, to improve to 13-1. Anthony Moran was 3-0 at 170 and freshman Jeremy Rousseau won two more matches at 220 abd was one of seven Wildcats who were unbeaten on the day.

Wildcats now 8-1

 

Whittier Tech continued to surge on the mat, improving to 8-1 with a quad-meet sweep at Pentucket. Lukas Rousseau (138) and Jeremias Collazo (160) continued their fine seasons and, along with Ethan Calderwood (145) and heavyweight Erickson Rivas were all 3-0.

Timberlane B team prevails

 

Timberlane certainly displayed its depth Friday.

While its varsity starters were battling it out at the first day of the Lowell Holiday Tournament, the Owls' B team placed first at the 21-team Pentucket Holiday Tournament.
