Pallaria named OW, Owls finish 2nd in Rhode Island

 

Timberlane junior Nick Pallaria is on top of his game and senior teammate Chris Lund seems to be completely healthy again.

Those were two takeaways Saturday from the John Gorman Invitational in Cumberland, R.I. as the Owls finished second to Simsbury in a talent-laden field. Timberlane had 10 placers and 221.5 points to fall just shy of Simsbury (228).

Sophs spark Owls

 

 Sophomores Bryce Parker and Cooper Kelly had big wins at 170 and 182 to spark unbeaten Timberlane to a 68-9 romp over Londonderry.

For the first time in recent memory, the Timberlane wrestling team didn't crown a champion at the Sanford Invitational, but the Owls used their depth to finish second behind Connecticut power Danbury, the defending New England champion.

Timberlane newcomers deliver

 

PLAISTOW — Even diehard Timberlane wrestling fans could have used a printed roster Wednesday night against Pinkerton.

After heavy graduation losses, and with three starters sitting out with minor ailments, the Owls' lineup was rampant with newcomers, including five freshmen.

Timberlane 1, Phillips Exeter 0

 

It was a milestone, but not a dramatic one for Timberlane wrestling coach Barry Chooljian Saturday.

With an easy sweep of Phillips Exeter (64-9), Framingham (63-18) and Noble (57-24), Chooljian passed the 600 wins and is now 602-50-5 in 34 years.
