Trading triples

A five-run fifth inning gave the Methuen softball team all the runs it needed in a 10-4 win over Tewksbury. During the inning, Stephanie Tardugno laced a bases-clearing triple and pitcher Jillian McCoy had a two-run triple. Tardugno was 3 for 4 with four RBIs on the day.

'Coach Q' on the board

Andover softball and first-year coach Rick Quattrocchi got off to a nice start to the season with a 9-2 season-opening win over Tewksbury. Junior Julianna Barbaro launched a mammoth home run in the first inning, and the Warriors didn't look back. Third basemen Scarlett Gillette "looked liked Brooks Robinson out there" according to her coach.
