LOWELL — Everything was in place for Lawrence High and an eventual berth into the Div. 1 North finals on Saturday.

They had momentum after consecutive, dominating wins over Central Catholic and Lexington and they had their ace, Miguel Matos, who allowed six runs the entire season.

HAVERHILL – With a chance to play a couple tough Merrimack Valley Conference opponents, defending Division 1 Central champ Wachusett Regional came east this weekend looking for a chance to bolster its resume for regionals.

Jake McElroy and Eric Whitehead both hit home runs as North Andover baseball trounced Lawrence, 10-1. Sebastian Keane tossed six innings, allowed three hits and struck out 13 for the win.

After Central Catholic scored in the top of the seventh inning to tie things up at 3-3, Lawrence baseball walked off with a 4-3 victory after nine innings of play. Kebler Peralta went 3 for 4 with two RBIs in the win.

After five straight tough loses, the Lawrence baseball team bounced back in a big way with a clutch, 4-1, win over a talented Chelmsford (9-3) team. Juan Medina tossed a complete game with nine strikeouts and also had a hit and an RBI to help his cause.

Nick Silva had a clutch two-out single to tie the game in the bottom of the seventh, then in the eighth Patrick McConnell drew a walk-off walk to lift Andover over Lawrence 7-6. McConnell finished with three RBIs on the day.

After recording just one out on the mound all of last season, Juan Medina tossed his second straight complete game this spring to lead Lawrence to a 7-1 win over rival Central Catholic. He finished with six strikeouts and was also 2 for 3 with an RBI at the plate.

The Methuen baseball team picked up its first win of the season in a wild 13-10, nine-inning marathon over previously-undefeated Lawrence. Devin Melia started the game with a leadoff home run and had three hits and three RBIs, and Derek Hoh pitched 3.1 scoreless innings to get the win. Luis Mejia was 4 for 5 with four RBIs for the Lancers.

Miguel Matos tossed a complete-game gem with seven strikeouts to lead Lawrence to a 4-1 win over Dracut. The lefty is now 2-0 with a perfect ERA, 15 Ks and two complete-games for the undefeated Lancers (3-0).

Junior Josiah Mendez shined in his first varsity start, allowing just one earned run with six strikeouts to lead Lawrence to a 6-2 win over Malden. Kebler Peralta went 2 for 4 with three RBIs in the win.
