Prescott keys Haverhill

 

Sam Prescott may want to limit his practice time in the future after what he accomplished Wednesday night.

Prescott, who hadn't practiced in a week due to a sprained ankle, stunned defending all-state champ CJ Cincotta with an 8-4 decision at 160 pounds to key Haverhill to a big 36-32 win over North Andover.

Hillies settle for 2nd

 

Haverhill's wrestling team battled Shawsheen all the way at the Sons of Italy tournament in Wilmington before settling for second, just ahead of Central Catholic.

The star of the day for the Hillies was heavyweight Jay Levy, who pinned all three of his opponents on his way to the title while remaining undefeated. Ben Davoli, who had a big win over Central's Jimmy Glynn in the semifinals, was second at 106 and Jake Nicolosi was second at 138, losing a tough 2-0 decision to Central's Tyler Glynn.

Haverhill's wrestling team had a huge 60-19 win over perennial power Chelmsford. Steven Wise, Jake Nicolosi and sophomore Israel Tricoche had impressive pins for the Hillies (3-0).

Freshman sparks Hillies

 

Freshman Ben Davoli began his career at Haverhill with a pair of pins at 106 as Haverhill opened its season with a sweep of Arlington and Marlboro. Steven Wise and Jake Nicolosi were 2-0 at 138 and 145 respectively.
