Hurray for Rea

 

Neil Rea was a model of consistency with 35 assists and had four aces to lead Windham over Salem, 3-1,  in the quarterfinals of the state volleyball tournament. The Jaguars (13-4) now will face defending champion Timberlane in Thursday's 7 p.m. semifinals at Nashua North.

Pinkerton won a thriller over Salem: 25-23, 17-25, 22-25, 25-9, 16-14. Hunter Hazard had 18 kills and took over the match late. Brian Castle contributed 38 assists for the 11-2 Astros.

With some hitters having off nights, Sam Hovan put Timberlane on his back with a team-high 24 kills and three blocks as the Owls pulled out a 3-1 battle over Salem.

Brian Castle finished with a team-high 27 assists as Pinkerton volleyball swept Salem, 3-0. Sean Galusha had 12 kills and two blocks for the Astros, and Ryan Greeley played well for the Blue Devils with seven kills and two blocks.

Going against Salem, a consensus top team in the state, defending champion Timberlane volleyball showed they're still the top dogs with a 3-0 sweep. Sam Hovan had 14 kills and two blocks in the win, and Matt Perry had 28 assists.

Devil of comeback

 

Trailing 2-0, Salem's volleyball team rallied for a 3-2 win over Windham to remain perfect after three matches. Roman Fabrizio had 29 assists, 15 service points and four aces to spark the Blue Devils. Nick Hayes had 15 kills and Ben Laycock five blocks in the win. Nick Kasprzak had nine kills and four blocks to pace Windham.
