Pentucket eighth grader Tyler Knox won all three matches as Pentucket/Newburyport went 2-1 at the TravisYell duals. One of Knox's wins was a 9-4 decision over Winchester's Scott Downs, who was a Lowell Holiday Tournament finalist. Jason Young had three pins for the Sachems (16-6).

Pentucket 8th grader Tyler Knox continued his 106-pound rivalry with Salem's Calvin Dalton Saturday and this time he won decisively, 13-6, to claim first at the Cape Ann League/Northeast Conference meet.

Triton wrestling clinched its second Cape Ann League title in three years, beating Pentucket 49-27 to improve to 15-2 on the year and 4-0 in the CAL. Sophomore Anthony Ostrander beat Kory Scheffen for his 100th career win, becoming just the third sophomore in school history to reach 100 career wins as a sophomore (Brandon Hayes, Luke Boyle). Josh Stevens also won a huge 8-7 win, and Jeremy Duford won a battle 15-7.

Surprising Pentucket improved to 9-2 by sweeping a five-team meet at Watertown. Tyler Knox remained unbeaten at 106  while Jake Slevoski (126), freshman Nic Williamson (132) and Korey Scheffen (152) were all 4-0 on the day.

Andrew Buzzell avenged his only loss on the season to Marblehead's Armani Dotson, controlling the entire match before getting a pin in the second period as Whittier beat Marblehead/Swampscott and Pentucket but fell to Georgetown. For Pentucket, which beat Georgetown and Marblehead, Tyler Knox remained undefeated at 106 and Jason Young, Jake Slevosky and Pete D'Agostino were all 3-0. Georgetown-Ipswich went 2-1, and Matt Mansfield went 3-0 at 152 pounds.

WEST NEWBURY —  Something different happened at the Pentucket Wrestling Tournament Wednesday and it took head Pentucket coach Dennis Puleo by surprise.

For the first time in 17 years, the Sachems — without any seniors — won their own tournament, and in impressive fashion at that, finishing with 144 1/2 points, comfortably ahead of runner-up Whittier (123). The Timberlane B team was in third with 111 1/2.

Tyler Knox (106) and Peter D'Agostino (195) both had 15-second pins as Pentucket won its third straight, 45-36 over Malden Catholic. 

Jacob Codair, a newcomer to wrestling, won his first varsity match, a 7-5 decision at 220, to highlight Pentucket's 51-18 victory over North Reading/Lynnfield.

Tyler Knox and Nic Williamson picked up their first varsity wins for Pentucket as the Sachems beat Essex Tech 48-24. Jacob Slevoski, Matt Holmes, Korey Scheffen, Tim Beech, Jason Young and Peter D'Agostino also won their matches.
