Surprising Georgetown-Ipswich scored at least 39 points in four straight meets to win the Brookline Duals, edging Newton South 39-36 in the finals. Carsten LaPlante was 1-0 at 120 and 3-0 at 126 and was named Outstanding Wrestler for the tournament. Also for Georgetown-Ipswich, now 14-4 on the year, Josiah Krason and Charlie Koshivas were both  4-0.

Surprising Royals

 

Georgetown improved to 10-3 with a quad-meet sweep over Everett, Saugus and Gloucester. John Blythe was 3-0 with three pins for the Royals and Josiah Krason, Carsten LaPlante, Mark Mansfield and Charlie Koshivas.

Koshivas drives G-I

 

Charlie Koshivas looked sharp with three pins on the day, driving his record to 18-3, to pace Georgetown-Ipswich to a quad-meet sweep over Minuteman, host Watertown (39-37) and Middleboro. Carsten LaPlante also was 3-0 on the day and is now 17-5 on the year. Right behind is 113-pounder Josiah Krason, whose three wins puts him at 14-5.

Wallace delivers

 

Whittier freshman Sam Wallace, trailing 11-0 in the third period, recorded a pin at 138 pounds against Pentucket to highlight a 42-37 victory for the Wildcats, who swept a quad-meet that included Georgetown-Ipswich. Sal Fonzo was 2-0 for the Wildcats.

Waiswilos gets big win

Georgetown-Ipswich wrestler Bill Waiswilos picked up one of the biggest wins of his career on Wednesday, pinning Triton standout Lewi L'Heureux late in the third round of their 152-pound matchup. Triton still went on to win the meet 44-36 to stay unbeaten.

Royals get 2 champs

 

Thanks to two champions, Georgetown-Ipswich finished fourth at the Scituate Invitational. Ian Forgitano was first at 106 and Charlie Koshivas was the champ at 160. Josiah Krason (113) and Carsten LaPlante (120) were both runner-up.
