GEORGETOWN— Heavily favored Manchester Essex proved its dominance from the outset in a 39-8 win over Georgetown. Senior Chris Carr ran for 182 yards and three touchdowns to give him a season total of 1,016 yards. "Well, that's how you want to end it, right?" M-E head coach Jeff Hutton said. "We talked all week about playing our first full game of 44 minutes. To go as hard as we can go, give it our best and we did that today." The Hornets (6-4) struck first after recovering a fumble on the Royals 17. Carr ran it in on the first play of the drive. Later in the first frame Carr took it to the house on a 52-yard run to extend the lead to 13-0.   Manchester Essex used a little trickery to extend the lead early in the second quarter. Quarterback Charlie Otterbein threw a backwards pass to split end Jake Rich, who hit Evan Pennoyer for a perfectly executed 38-yard touchdown pass. Carr would add a third touchdown, this one from 11-yards out, to take the Hornets into the half with a 25-0 lead. The Hornets added two more scores in the third quarter, a two yard run by Jack Hennigan, and a Robbie Sarmanian eight yard pass from Cosmo Pallazola, before Jimmy Sherman got the Royals (1-10) on the board with a 13-yard touchdown catch from Nick Calvani in the fourth. "Obviously it wasn't the result we were looking for but it shows us where we are at," Georgetown  head coach Eric McCarthy said. "We need to get bigger and stronger for next year and work hard to get better. We have a lot of kids coming back so we're excited about that."

MANCHESTER — Trailing by three with two minutes to play, Whittier drove the length of the field before fumbling at the Manchester Essex 15-yard line, ending the comeback bid and giving the Hornets the 15-12 win.
Whittier led 12-0 at halftime after Hunter McKinnon rushed for a 46-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter, and then Shane Mambro added a 3-yard run with five minutes to play in the second.
Manchester Essex came back with a 20-yard touchdown in the third, and then with 5:02 to play in the fourth, the Hornets took the lead for good on a 30-yard run.
Whittier (2-7) hosts O'Bryant next weekend at a time to be determined.

MANCHESTER—The Manchester Essex Regional High School football team put Friday’s Cape Ann League Baker opener against Georgetown out of reach early. The Hornets came flying out of the gates with three, first-quarter touchdowns and that was more than enough to put away Thanksgiving Day rival Georgetown by a score of 34-0 at Hyland Field. With the win the Hornets improve to 2-1 on the season, 1-0 in the CAL while Georgetown falls to 0-3. Manchester Essex set the tone right off the bat, forcing a punt on the Royals’ first drive and responding with a three-play, 54-yard drive culminating with a Chris Carr 21-yard touchdown run. Jack Hennigan’s two-point conversion made it 8-0 Hornets just four minutes into the game. After forcing a three-and-out on the ensuing Georgetown possession, led by a sack from Andrew Hantzopolous and Noah Rawson, the Manchester Essex offense went right back to work. This time it took seven plays to drive 62 yards and a Nick DiPietro 7-yard run extended the lead to 14-0 in the middle of the opening frame. The Hornets got the ball back again late in the quarter and scored again, this time on a 28-yard pass from quarterback Charlie Otterbein to Jake Rich in the back of the end zone on 4th-and-9 to make it 21-0 after the opening frame. The Royals, however, made some strong defensive adjustments making it tough on the Manchester Essex offense from there. Skyler Odle and Daniel Lavelle led the Georgetown defense. Manchester Essex did not score again until the fourth quarter when Hennigan punched it in from two yards out to make it 28-0 with just over seven minutes to play. Rob Sarmanian capped off the scoring in the middle of the fourth quarter with a 39-yard touchdown run to make it 34-0. The Hornets are back in CAL Baker action next Saturday when they travel to Hamilton-Wenham (2 p.m.). It’s been a frustrating beginning to the 2015 season for the Royals as the team has failed to be competitive in each of its first three games. Georgetown will look to improve this Friday night when it hosts Amesbury (0-3).
