It's no secret that Triton Regional High is a veritable hive of track and field prowess. Joe Colbert's team is a buzzing, flying, and altogether swarming group of athletes bent on a prize perhaps sweeter than nectar.

Triton distance runner Keely Maguire, a Georgetown resident, will miss the remainder of the season due to compartment syndrome. The condition, which is caused by inflammation, results in a lack of blood supply to the knees.

The Triton girls track team captured its first Cape Ann League title since 1999 yesterday without the services of Division 1 college scholarship recipient Keely Maguire.

The University of New Hampshire-bound senior from Georgetown will be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to compartment syndrome | or a lack of blood supply in the knees as a result of inflammation.

A strong Triton team was too much for the Tigers, beating them 85-58. 

  Three members of Ipswich's 4x400 relay team took first place finishes as April Hoffman placed first in the 300 hurdles (50.6), Steph Sutherby took first in the long jump (15-3) and Hannah O'Flynn captured the 400 (63.3). Together with Lia Webb, they won the 4x4 relay (4:25.4).

With wins over previously undefeated Hamilton-Wenham (93-52) and a talented North Reading squad (80-65), the still-undefeated Triton girls track team (5-0) has now reached the halfway point to its season goal | a Cape Ann League championship.
