In a game that could've concluded with the Amesbury softball team claiming a share of the Cape Ann League title yesterday afternoon, Triton not only played the role of spoiler but catapulted itself into the same CAL fray.

The Vikings (5-7 overall, 3-2 Cape Ann League) received timely hitting from Kerri Carleton, Caitlin Stevens, Lauren Sergeant, and Katie McCance. Marion Dulleau pitched all 14 innings, allowing eight hits and two walks. She recorded nine strikeouts.

Locked up in a pitchers' duel between Triton's Lauren Sargent and Amesbury's Jordan Oliva, the Indians' Kelsey Fournier hit a fourth-inning solo home run that was the difference in the game.

Amesbury's Abby Pare made six assists from second base and Kerri Salvatore had a nice catch, while also throwing out a girl at first base from right field for the Indians. On the Triton side Mikaela Strangie was 2 for 2 with a single and a double.

Yesterday at the Triton Regional High School, the Vikings battled the Newburyport Clippers in a River Rival league match-up. A stalemate for the majority of the game, it was a handful of big plays, and big errors, that helped finalize the outcome.
