North Andover Scarlet Knights Boys Swimming '14-'15

Shi leads Andover to fifth

Eric Shi placed second in the 100 breaststroke (58.26) and fourth in 200 IM (1:55.93) to help lead Andover to a fifth-place finish at the Division 1 Mass. boys state swim meet Sunday. Andover led all MVC schools with 144 points. Central Catholic came in seventh (133 points). Haverhill was 17th (41 points) and North Andover came in 25th (20 points). Central's Drew Carbone came in second in the 100 backstroke (50.73) and third in the 200 IM (1:55.47). He and Will Pannos, Griffin Anderson and Lucas Barnes also helped the Raiders' 200 medley relay to a third-place finish. Pannos was second in the 100 butterfly (51.23) as well. Andover's Adi Arifovic took third in the 200 freestyle (1:43.55) and third in the 500 freestyle (4:41.58). He also was on Andover's third place 400 freestyle relay with Shi, Max Blanch and Nathan Hamer.

Gold for Amedeo, Shi

Juniors Matt Amedeo of Haverhill (500 freestyole), Eric Shi of Andover (100 breaststroke) and Joe Turk of North Andover and St. John's (200 IM, 100 backstroke) all were victorious Saturday at North Sectionals. Central's Andrew Carbone was second in two events and teammate Will Pannos earned the silver in the 100 butterfly.

Andover takes silver

Chelmsford edged out Andover 345-337 at the MVC Swimming Championships. The only champions were all Central Catholic swimmers: Drew Carbone (200 IM), Steve Quinlan (diving), Will Pannos (100 butterfly) and 200 medley relay (Carbone, Pannos, Griffin Anderson, Lucas Bonds).

In his last home meet, senior tri-captain T.J. Deveaux was a double winner and North Andover cruised past Lowell 94-66.
