Royals' Slack wins duel

Georgetown's Pat Slack and Triton's Justin Cashman hooked up in a classic pitcher's duel in the opener of the Spofford Memorial Tournament. The Royals picked up just enough offense with Ben Noelk and Colby Ingraham producing RBI hits, to scratch out a 2-1 win.
Slack went the distance, giving up two hits and three walks while striking out three.
Not to be outdone, it was Pentucket's Ryan Kuchar and Newburyport's James Nutter colliding in the other semifinal.
The Sachems managed only one hit on the day against Nutter and fell, 1-0.
Today at noon, it's Georgetown vs. Newburyport in the title game, while the consolation between Triton and Pentucket is slated at 3 p.m. The games are both at Georgetown High School.
