Jenna Smolag won the 55 meters in 7.6 seconds to help lead North Andover girls 58-28 over Haverhill.

The Scarlet Knights improved to 4-0-1 and clinched at least a share of the MVC Large title with Lowell.

Knights trip Andover

Mikayla Guthrie, Deven Sportelli, Mary Lavery and Jenna Smolag ran away with the mile relay in 4:17.7 to clinch North Andover's 48-38 win over Andover. Katie McManus (37-1.5) broke her own school record in the shot put and Guthrie was dominant in her debut in the 600.

North Andover girls track came so, so close to victory at the MSTCA Division II Relays yesterday, finishing in second to Marsfield by just a single point. 

North Andover's Mikayla Guthrie, Deven Fortelli, Mary Lavery and Jenna Smolag combined to win the 4x400 (4:06.74).

Into the record books

North Andover sophomore Catherine Flaherty soared 5-6 to tie the 12-year-old Red Auerbach Freshman-Sophomore Meet record held by former Dennis-Yarmouth great Kate Sherman. She won the event and moved into a seventh-place tie on the area's all-time list (indoor and outdoor). Flaherty, who set the school record with her 4-inch personal best, was named field events MVP.

Katie McManus set a new school indoor record in the shot put with a 36-1 3/3 to help North Andover best Central Catholic 45-41. Deven Sportelli (600) and Catherine Flaherty (high jump) added the two other Scarlet Knight victories.North Andover prevailed with superior depth overall.
