Maeve Awiszus had never won an individual event at the state swim meet during her first three years at Andover High so her goal throughout her senior season was to win just one.

She did one better yesterday, tying for first in the 500 freestyle (5:05.72) and winning the 100 backstroke (59:14).

Andover scored just a single individual victory, but thanks to its depth across the events was still able to come out on top as a team, winning the North sectional swimming and diving championship with 345.5 points, edging No. 2 rival Chelmsford (336).

Andover girls swimming tied Chelmsford in a meet of two teams that entered undefeated in the MVC. With the tie, the two teams finished as MVC Large co-champions.

Andover's only loss this year came against Acton-Boxborough, which lost to Chelmsford. So this was a good tie for the Golden Warriors who entered as the underdog. 

Soojin Kim won the 100 breaststroke and has now qualified for all eight individual events for States. She helped Andover win every event against Melrose.

Acton-Boxboro nipped Andover 95-91, to snap the Golden Warriors' 55-meet win streak (12-0 2009-12 and 7-0 start th s year). It went down to the final event, the 400 freestyle relay, but Soojin Kim's blistering anchor leg wasn't quite enough and A-B held on 3:47.09-3:48.88. Andover's last loss was to Chelmsford in the 2008 season finale and early that season A-B also beat the Warriors.

Andover swimming beat Billerica with divers Sophia Allen and Caitlyn Fitzsimmons making the sectional qualifying cut.

Andover took the battle of swim unbeatens over Haverhill 101-85. Cali Aramian was a quadruple winner for the Hillies while Maeve Awiszus and Soojin Kim were triple winners for Andover.

Soojin Kim scored victories in the 50 freestyle (27.04) and 100 freestyle (57.19) and swam on the winning 200 freestyle relay and 400 freestyle relay as Andover bested Belmont 101-84.
