Bishop Guertin, Timberlane

PLAISTOW — Bishop Guertin rushed for 522 yards on 49 carries in a 48-19 win over Timberlane.

Tyler Furey (29 run), Caleb Sharp (48 yard catch), Andrew Augusta (5 run) scored for the Owls. Defensively, Alex Licata intercepted a pass and linebacker Shawn Grenier also played well.

Downey returns kick 96 yards in loss

Despite a 96-yard kickoff return by Zach Downey for a touchdown, Timberlane lost 41-14 to Exeter. 

Downey's return came in the third quarter to put the Owls on the scoreboard. Timberlane's other TD was in the fourth when Jason  Hughes connected with receiver Caleb Sharp for a 6-yard TD pass.

Downey strong in Timberlane loss

Zach Downey caught six passes for 96 yards but Timberlane lost 28-14 to Winnacunnet to drop to 1-6 on the season.

Owls quarterback Jason Hughes completed 9 for 18 passes for 130 yards and added a 1-yard TD run, but he was intercepted once and that proved to be costly. The pick was returned by Winnacunnet's Collin Witt 69 yards for a touchdown with 4 seconds remaining.

Nashua North, Timberlane

NASHUA —Nashua North scored the final three touchdowns of the game, including Demitri Jackson's 2-yard run in overtime, to beat Timberlane 34-28.

Timberlane, which led 28-14 after three quarters, got the final chance in OT but its fourth-down pass fell incomplete  A penalty early in the possessionput the Owls (1-5)  behind the 8-ball.

Late drive falls short for Timberlane

Timberlane drove to the opposing 21-yard line with 2:30 to go in the game, but was stuffed on fourth and short and Dover ran out the clock for a 28-21 victory over the Owls.

"I thought we were in the right spots a lot of the time," said coach Kevin Fitzgerald. "But we didn't make the plays when we needed to."
