Brooks falls short in semis

Brooks entered halftime tied 26-26, but could not hold on and fell to Suffield Academy 53-45 in the New England Class B semifinals.

"It was a great effort by the kids," said coach John McVeigh. "We played a really good first half, but in the second half we just didn't make enough shots. We defended the way we needed to defend, but it was just not enough offense down the stretch."

Revenge for Brooks

 

The Brooks boys basketball team recorded a sweet payback victory over Beaver Country Day, 54-36, in the first round of the Class B prep tournament yesterday. Beaver Country Day is the defending B champ and knocked Brooks out of the tournament last year.

Defending New England Prep Class B champion Beaver Country Day ousted Brooks in the semifinals last year but the Green and White got some revenge with a 70-62 win, handing BCD it's first loss. Jayde Dawson (29 points, 11 rebounds) and freshman Ikenna Ndugba (24 points, 7 assists) led the way.

Berroa, Brooks lost

 

David Berroa went out with a leg injury after scoring 12 points in the first half and was unable to return and Brooks lost its first game of the season, 62-59 in overtime to Nobles. Jayde Dawson scored 22 points in a losing cause for Brooks (7-1).
