DANVERS — With seven seniors on the roster, it’s only natural that a sophomore would step up to make the biggest play of Andover’s season.

But that’s what players like David Giribaldi are empowered to do.

ANDOVER — After traveling north 20 miles, Medford wasted no time making itself at home.

Before the night was over, however, Andover showed the Mustangs just who owned the joint.

Max Silveira (11 points in the finals, 12 in semifinals) named the MVP of the Roche Bros. Roundball Classic after his Andover boys basketbal squad won 60-39 over Somerville in the championship game last night. 

Chris Dunn knocked down three 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 19 points and Jack Konevich, namesake of the "Jack's Jungle" fanbase, added a pair of 3-pointers as Andover pummeled Needham 72-48 in the first round of the Roche Brothers Tournament.

Max Silveira had 13 points and seven assists to lead Andover past Lawrence 61-49. Chris Dunn added 16 points and four 3-pointers.

Andover battled to a lead after three quarters but Lowell turned up its offense by forcing turnovers on defense, coming back for a 61-54 victory. Sam Dowden led a balanced Warriors offense with 10 points, the only Andover player in double figures.

Sophomore David Giribaldi led three Andover players in double figures with 17 points as the Warriors downed Lawrence, 67-56. Tre'von Farley and Roberto Speing had 13 points and 10 rebounds each in the loss for the Lancers.

Six-foot-4 senior forward Sam Dowden posted a season-high 32 points and also had 10 rebounds as Andover boys basketball rolled 65-52 over Chelmsford. 

Tyler Verrette led an Andover defense that allowed just three combined points in the second and third quarter combined and Jack Konevich knocked down four 3-pointers on the way to 12 points as the Golden Warrios downed Methuen 65-36.
