Knights make tourney

North Andover battled its way to a 2-1 victory over Central Catholic and a berth in the state field hockey tourney. Danielle McAdam and Kali Otis (assist) transitioned the ball well in the victory while Danielle Jillson turned in a solid defensive effort for the Knights.

In a battle for a top spot in the MVC, Kali Otis scored the game-winner in the second half as North Andover nipped Central Catholic 2-1. Otis also assisted on a Sara McCarthy goal for the Knights (5-2-4) while Kendra Poulin scored for the Raiders (6-3-1).

Big tie for Knights

Emily Boyle made the most of a well-played penalty corner, beating the Andover goalie with 1:10 left to give North Andover field hockey an important 2-2 tie. Caroline Whelan had a dominating effort for North Andover (4-2-3), scoring the game's first goal, and Louisa Gross excelled at midfield for Andover (8-0-1).

The North Andover field hockey team did everything but score, outshootin Tewksbury 29-1, but the Knights had to settle for a scoreless tie. "Their goalie made some very nice saves," said North Andover coach Courtney Breen.
