Offense denied

Andover boys soccer had the brunt of the offensive opportunities but Chelmsford's goalie was superlative in a scoreless draw. Midfielder An Huynh was a strong playmaker for the Warriors and Ray Forster, who played midfield and forward last night, had most of Andover's scoring chances in second half.

Shorthanded win

After losing a man to a red card 17 minutes into action, Andover struggled to trail Tewksbury at halftime but rebounded with gusto for a 4-2 soccer victory. Deadeye shooting from Ray Forster and An Huynh helped turned the tide while Jeremy Day sparked a shutout effort in the second half.

Bad break

Two minutes into the second half of its soccer match against Andover, Lawrence's Romeo Gomez suffered a broken leg. Both teams rallied to complete the game in honor of their fallen comrade as Andover rode goals from Mike Maldari and Declan Collins to a 3-0 victory over the Lancers. "The camraderie was there for both teams," said Warriors head coach Jim Saalfrank.

Andover, North Andover play to tie

Drew Johnson scored for Andover and Evan Dudney did the same for North Andover as the two teams played to a 1-1 tie in their first game as MVC rivals.

Andover's Connor Merinder (nine saves) and North Andover's Marc Patnaude (three saves) each played well to secure the tie.  Both teams are now 1-0-1 and next meet on Oct. 11, at Andover.
