Sachems ousted

Pentucket (15-4) closed out the year breaking numerous records and going deeper than it ever has before in the state tournament, according to coach Laurie Dunnet. Although the Sachems were swept by unbeaten Winchester, they kept the match competitive. Rachael Downey lost for just the first time of the year at third singles and her sister Coli had a very competitive match at first singles.

Sachems advance

 

Thanks to the indoor courts at the Woburn Racquet Club, Pentucket's girls tennis team got its Division 2 tournament match against Tewksbury played yesterday and it proved worthwhile as the Sachems defeated Tewksbury 3-2. Coli Downey (6-0, 6-0), Carolyn Babeu (6-0, 6-1) and Rachael Downey (6-0, 6-0) all won singles matches for the Sachem (14-3), who are scheduled to host will host 13th-seed Reading (11-6) this afternoon in the quarterfinals.
