Brendon Bretton struck out 11, surrendering one earned run on five hits as Haverhill earned a spot in the post season for the first time since 2009. Senior Zach Evans had two RBIs and two runs scored for the Hillies.

Elvis leaves the building .. with win

Lawrence's Elvis Batista led off the seventh with a walk, stole second and took third base and home on passed balls for the unlikely winning run in a 5-4 Lancers walkoff victory over Dracut. David Quezada added a home run and Sam Quirzo earned his first varsity victory.

Haverhill senior Matt Houde threw a gem in a 5-2 victory over Dracut, striking out 13 and allowing just one earned run. Jon DelaCruz scored twice and had an RBI for the Hillies.

A quick comeback

After falling behind Dracut by four runs, catcher Brian Ganci got Andover quickly back into the contest with a three-run triple in the second inning. A six-run sixth-inning led by Andrew Deloury's two-run base hit completed the comeback as Andover emerged victorious, 9-5.

Nick Gorski, Bobby Angelo and Nick Delois each drove in three runs as Central pounded Dracut 18-2 in a six-inning, mercy-rule shortened game.

Methuen baseball coach Eric Cyr is the early leader for sports understatament of the year when he said, "We've got some pretty decent team speed." His Rangers ripped up Dracut for 10 stolen bases without getting caught in a 9-2 triumph. Cam Cyr swiped three bases and Eric Lacroix, Matt Bauchman and Cam Conway had two apiece. Conway added a two-run single in the fourth inning and an RBI sacrifice fly in the fifth.
