NORTH ANDOVER — After Rick O’Connor smacked a pinch-hit home run yesterday afternoon, North Andover fans were quick to point out that he’d done it before.

But the one he hit against Manchester Essex last month was nothing like this one.

Mike Weisman belted his fourth homer of the year, a 375-foot shot over the fence in right field, and Brandon Walsh fired six innings of two-run ball as North Andover wrapped up its regular season with a 7-2 win over Masconomet. Jon Swanton laced a two-run single and Dan Laorenza added an RBI double to break up a scoreless tie in fourth inning.

LAWRENCE — A disappointed onlooker three straight times, Mike Weisman wasn't about to let this opportunity to make history slip through his grasp.

"I've played in this tournament four years, and up until this year, we really hadn't been close," said the North Andover High senior lefty. "So yeah, this one was big to me and to all of us."
