For a moment, it appeared the game may be headed to overtime.

Scotty Campbell collected the rare loose puck and tucked it past the startled goalie with 9.4 seconds remaining for a 3-3 face-saving deadlock, pulling the Division 1 Warriors even with a Division 2 Scarlet Knights squad that's been on a nice roll lately.

Freshman Joe Daccord had his first career shutout as North Andover blanked Somerville 4-0 to qualify for the state tournament. Cody Aponas scored twice for the Knights (10-5-2).

NORTH ANDOVER — Hockey was played at Merrimack College last night, but inconsistency was the real name of this game.

After a torrid start, North Andover pulled out a 3-2 win over North Reading, but it was a tough night for both teams.

Dave Messina, Ryan Sweeney and Ricky O'Connor had second-period goals for North Andover in a 3-3 tie with Newburyport.

Freshman Joey Daccord stopped 37 of 39 shots to help North Andover tie Lynnfield 2-2.

A short-handed goal by Jake Silk paced North Andover to a 2-1 victory over Masconomet. Ryan Sweeney also scored for the Knights (6-4) and both Daniel O'Connor and Ernest Guerrera on defense stood out on defense.

Pentucket won its first game of the season in impressive fashion, edging North Andover 4-3. Max Mangano had two goals and two assists, scoring the game-winner with 2:49 left on a power play. Mac Cavanaugh added a goal and two assists for the Sachems.
