Led by 11 points from senior Ally Statezni, No. 7 Sanborn clipped No. 10 White Mountains 36-31 in the first round of the New Hampshire Division 3 tournament. The Indians (15-4) will play at No. 2 Prospect Mountain in the quarterfinals Satuday at 7 p.m.

Londonderry romps

 

Host Londonderry romped to the title in the Londonderry Holidaty Tournament, formerly the Bow Holiday Tournament.

The Lancers placed eight in the finals and came away with five champions on their way to scoring 215 points. Winnacunnet was a distant second with 143.

Pelham bows out in semis

No. 4 Pelham softball could muster just two hits, falling to unbeaten No. 1 seed White Mountains in the Division 3 state semifinal.

"This is the furthest a Pelham girls team has made it since 1996," said Pythons coach Todd Lozeau. "The score just doesn't reflect what our kids left on the field. They played their hearts from the first pitch to the last and I am so proud of them."

Missert sparks Windham

 

Windham lost a tough one to coach Tom Darrin's former team, Reading, 35-33, but sophomore Justin Missert did his best to prevent it. Trailing 6-0 in his match at 132, he pinned his man and was 3-0 on the day as Windham beat White Mountains and Nashua South to improve to 7-2. Tyler Siverhus won twice at 145 and once at 152 to remain unbeaten.

Opening win

 

Freshman Brandon Arzuaga began his high school wrestling career by defeating a senior at 113 with an 8-3 decision as Pelham opened its season with a 39-18 victory over White Mountains.

Too many shots, not enough goals

Sanborn came out firing in its season opener, and never stopped. The only problem was they couldn't crack the goal line - 40 shots on net - 40 shots stopped. 

Shannon Snively and Ashley Froton each played well on defense for the Indians (0-0-1).  Heather Zukas was called on to make three saves for Sanborn.
