Canery leads Lancers

Lawrence's Marius Canery had a monster day for the Lancers boys basketball team, tallying 25 points, seven rebounds and five blocks in a 73-69 win over Brookline. Jonathan Ocasio had 15 points and Obbie Luciano had 14 points for the Lancers, who will take on crosstown rival Central Catholic on Tuesday.

It wasn't the blowout you might expect when No. 1 plays No. 32 but Andover field hockey beat Brookline, 1-0. In the second quarter, Haley Carver scored from Hailey Doherty. Andover dominated (Adelaide Weeden had 0 saves) but Olivia Sheehan (16 saves) kept it close for the visitors.

Freshman Tucker Jackson got a second period pin in the last match of the meet to give Pentucket a 42-36 win over Gr. Lowell and a split in a tri-meet that included Brookline. Tyler Knox and Chris Legacy were both 2-0 with two pins.

Hillies take first

 

Haverhill took top honors in the Hillie Duals, winning four straight meets before taking the championship when Brookline oddly forfeited in the finals. Jake Nicolosi (138), Sam Prescott (152), Isaiah Delossantos (160) and heavyweight jay Levy were all 5-0 on the day.

Georgetown wins two

Sophomore Troy Forgitano went 3-0 on the day, and Robbie Blythe went 2-1 in his first day back as Georgetown-Ipswich wrestling won two out of three at Saturday's quad-meet, beating Sandwich 42-22 and Leominster 43-24 while losing to Brookline 45-15. Georgetown is now 11-4 on the season.

Triton wrestling won two out of three at Saturday's quad meet, beating Josiah Quincy and Gloucester before losing to Brookline. Jeremy Duford and Jared Durkin each went 3-0 for the Vikings, who are now 12-2 on the year.

Hillies finish second

 

haverhill sophomore Sam Prescott seemed eager to return to the mat Saturday. Out briefly with bruised ribs, Prescott came back strong at the Hillie duals, pinning five straight opponents at 145 as the Hillies finished second in the dual-meet tournament.

Georgetown repeats

 

 Georgetown/Ipswich repeated as champions of the Brookline Duals by winning four times to improve to 15-0, already just one win away from the school record.

Ian Forgitano (106) and John Blythe (152) were both 4-0 with four pins and Charlie Koshivas won the team outstanding wrestler plaque.

Crown for Georgetown

 

Surprising Georgetown-Ipswich scored at least 39 points in four straight meets to win the Brookline Duals, edging Newton South 39-36 in the finals. Carsten LaPlante was 1-0 at 120 and 3-0 at 126 and was named Outstanding Wrestler for the tournament. Also for Georgetown-Ipswich, now 14-4 on the year, Josiah Krason and Charlie Koshivas were both  4-0.

Raider Rematch

Central Catholic opened up in the girls soccer tourney with a 4-0 win over Brookline. Grace Quaratiello and Ashley Raphael each had a goal and an assist. In the Division 1 North quarters, the No. 1 Raiders will play No. 4 Lincoln-Sudbury, the team which ousted them last fall.
