Windham loses heartbreaker

Windham won the first two games but lost the next two and was nipped 18-16 in the deciding Game 5 against Bedford in the opening round of the Division 2 state tourney.

"To make it to the playoffs our first year as a varsity program is awesome!'' said Jaguars coach Jill Bartlett, whose team finished at 8-9. "I am really proud of the girls. Our inexperience with situations like this showed a bit."

Pelham pulled its defense together in the second half and made a hard charge at Bedford, falling just short in a battle of top Division 2 teams, 4-3. Rafael DeCampos got momentum on the Pythons' side when he connected from 35 yards out. Midfielder Brandon Skinner and forward Alec Paradis put heavy pressure on Bedford's backs to shut its offense down.

Pelham boys tennis loses championship heartbreaker

Seven weeks ago, Pelham boys tennis was 1-2 and coming off a 9-0 shellacking to Bedford.

But the Pythons turned it around big-time and nearly won the Class I championship. Against that same Bedford squad which had humiliated them in mid-April, the Pythons put up a game fight before falling 5-4 in the title match.
