One winning streak came to a hald for Timberlane Saturday against the top two-ranked teams in the Connecticut. The Owls lost a barn burner, 29-28, to No. 2 Simsbury and later — after defeating Nashoba handily — fell to No. 1 Danbury, the defneing New ENgland champion.

Owls streak now at 44

 

The beat goes on for the Tiberlane wrestling team, even when it seems unlikely.

The Owls swept a quad-meet with Connecticut powers Danbury (50-14) and Xavier (46-22) as well as Nashoba Regional Saturday to improve to 14-0. The Owls have now won 44 straight dual meets, their last loss coming to Danbury in 2017.

Owls pin way to stunner over Danbury

 

It's a long drive from Plaistow to Danbury, Connecticut, but it proved worthwhile for Timberlane Saturday.Timberlane got some sweet revenge Saturday.

The Owls used the power of the pin to topple host Danbury for a huge 43-30 victory as part of a quad-meet at the home of the defending New England champions. With wins over Nashoba and Xavier, that improved the Owls to 15-0 and avenged their only loss in each of the last two seasons.

Andover girls win Dartmouth Relays

Andover girls track won a pair of relays and set two school records on the way to taking the team crown at the elite Dartmouth Relays on Saturday. The Golden Warriors finished with 48 points, topping No. 2 Danbury, Conn. (37).
 
Hannah Lansberry took second in the 400 in a school record 59.85. Kassie Brink was runner-up in the triple jump, setting a new school mark at 36-10.5. 

 
The Warriors then took gold in the 4x200 relay (Julia Sergeant, Ally Bennett, Grace Dunn, Hope Joel) in 1:49.41 and the 4x400 relay (Lansberry, Emma Joel, Julianna Kennedy, Delia Barbanti) in 4:05.68.

Londonderry won three of four at the New Fairfield duals, falling only to Connecticut power Danbury. Ryan Cabezas, Tyler Byrd and Mahdi Achab were all 4-0.

Danbury edges Owls

 

In a quad-meet at Danbury, Conn., Timberlane dropped its first meet of the year, to the host team, 30-23 while also whipping Nashoba Tech and Xavier. Danbury has now handed the only loss of the season to both Vermont power Mt. Anthony and Timberlane.

McLinden wins it

 

Tim McLinden gave up a penalty point at the end of regulation, but then got a takedown in overtime to win his fourth match of the day and five Timberlane a 33-29 victory over Danbury, the No. 1 -ranked team in Connecticut, to capture the New Fairfield Dual-Meet Tournament.

Timberlane tied at the top after Day 1

The Timberlane wrestling team is tied for first with Danbury (CT) after Day 1 of the 24-team Sanford Redskin Invitational with 90 points. Third place Lisbon (ME), one of the top two teams in the state, trails with 83.5 points. The Owls have eight wrestlers in the semifinals including Zach Bridson (104), Matt Morris (119), Cam Sullivan (125), Alex Smith (130), David Clemens (135), Nick Lawrence (145), Eric Petrillo (171) and Brian Nicoll (HVY).
