It will never show up in a box score or on a stat sheet, but the North Shore Tech team picked up a team assist recently. The Bulldogs followed through with a community service project by holding a gas card raffle, with the idea of raising enough money to buy uniforms for a needy soccer team in Tela, Honduras.

Life has been rough for the North Shore Tech girls hoop squad recently. As if battling for their first win hasn't been difficult enough, the Bulldogs have been doing it recently with a depleted crew. North Shore has played the last week without three starters and three bench players who have been out due to either sickness or injury.

WAKEFIELD | Northeast Metro football coach Don Heres told North Shore Tech coach Mike Drouin and some of his players to "hang in there" after last night's season finale. "I told them they're going to be really good in a couple of years," said Heres.

The Gryphons jumped out to a 29-0 lead at halftime and withstood a furious charge by the host Bulldogs (0-10).

Junior Cam White of Swampscott had another big game for North Shore, catching a 23-yard touchdown pass, rushing for a 1-yard score and converting a pair of 2-point conversion rushes.

With most of their games this season being decided in the final minute of play, the Manchester Essex football team was looking to finish off North Shore Tech much earlier in the game yesterday.

As it turned out, the Hornets got just what they were looking for in a dominating 33-6 win over the Bulldogs at North Shore Technical High School's Barry Field.

Joel D'Ambrosio scored both goals, including the game-winner on a 22-yard shot that he tucked under the crossbar, to lift the Bulldogs to just their second state tournament win in program history. North Shore (6-11-2), which qualified for the tournament by going 5-1-2 against divisional opponents, moves on to play Lowell Catholic tomorrow in a Div. 3 North first round affair.
