Whittier crushed Nashoba 20-0 in five innings as Alyssa Michel went 4 for 5 with four RBIs and Dani Lear was 3 for 3 with a home run and four RBIs. Overall, the unbeaten Wildcats (11-0) had 23 hits.

Decimated Knights prevail

 

Despite missing five of its best starters with injuries, North Andover swept a quad-meet at home. Joey Valentino was 3-0 with three pins but it was fill ins like Anthony McCann and senior Jacob Williams who came up big time for the Knights. Will Schimmoeller, at 170, also had a big day with three wins.

Luis Mayricio, Michael Hernandez, Chris Bueno and Brandon Santell were all 3-0 on the day as Lawrence whipped Reading and Nashoba but fell to Rhode Island Cumberland.

Central finishes 2nd

 

Central Catholic settled for a somewhet disappointing second at the Demao Duals at Nashoba.

The Raiders won their first two meets handily, then slipped past Nahoba 39-38 in the semifinals only to lose in the finals 38-37 to Walpole despite leading by 14 points with three matches to go. In two of the final three matches, the Raiders were winning decisively before being pinned.

Haverhill's hockey team won its second straight game to open the season, 7-2 over Nashoba. Showing good depth, six different players scored, led by Tyler Campbell's two goals. Brian Mackie and Mike Fitzgerald both had a goal and two assists.
