Cole Gilbert won No. 1 singles (8-2), Charlie Marsh took No. 2 singles (8-1) and they teamed to win No. 1 doubles (8-2) as No. 5 Windham beat No. 4 Coe-Brown 5-4 in the Division 2 first round. Windham will travel to No. 1 Oyster River in the Semifinals on Monday.

Hughes, LaChapelle star

Abby Hughes won the 800 meters in 2:18.24 and helped Windham to a third in the 4x400 at the Division 2 State Meet. Sanborn's Kaylen LaChapelle placed in the long jump, triple jump and high jump. Pelham's Gwenyth Dahlinger earned third in the 100 and 200.

Indians win in OT

 

Sanborn's boys won a thriller, defeating Coe-Brown 72-67 in overtime in the Division 2 quarterfinals to advance to Wednesday's quarterfinals. Sophomore Jared Khalil had his second big tourney game, leading the way with 22 points, but Jason Allen was huge with 16 points and clinched the win with two free throws with 26 seconds left in OT. Dylan Khalil chipped in with 14 points.

Trailing by 17 in the third period, Sanborn stormed back and forced OT against Coe-Brown. The Indians won in double-OT, 73-69, on late free throws by Jared Khalil and James Bush. Khalil had 11 of his 25 in the fourth quarter.

Sanborn's boys cross country team won a five-team meet at home that included nationally ranked Coe-Brown, but it was with an asterisk because Coe-Brown ran its JV team. Jared Khalil was runner-up on the 5K course in 16:23, one place and seven seconds ahead of freshman brother Tyson.
