Local track athletes had some highlights at Saturday night's Twilight Meet in Weston. Haverhill's Jayla Kitchings took first in the 100 hurdles with a 14.96. She actually ran a 14.77 in the trial run, good for fourth all-time in the area while breaking her own school record. Elsewhere for the Hillies, Sean Glass to second in the 200 (21.96) and Kitchings also finished third in the long jump (17-8).

The Northern Essex Community College volleyball team swept its way past both MassBay and Bunker Hill to claim the Region 21 championship. With the win the Knights will advance to the District Tournament to be played next weekend at a site and time to be determined. Andover's Sarah Shattuck and Salem's Rachel Amiss led the attack whileLawrence's Nashaly Sanchez led in assists and Lawrence's Marissa Reardon had a strong serving performance.
