BURLINGTON — Give superstar LeBron James an assist for the Andover High girls tennis victory yesterday.

Golden Warriors coach Alan Hibino — who bears a striking resemblance to LeBron’s coach Erik Spoelstra — did some research after James cramped up during Game 1 against the San Antonio Spurs in the NBA Finals last week.

Dynasty prevails

Barnstable volleyball has won 15 state titles in the previous 20 falls. Central Catholic knew well what it was getting into, having fallen to the Red Raiders in the 2011 title match. In season opening action yesterday on the Cape, the Red Raiders tripped up the Raiders 3-0. Playing well in defeat were Victoria Nassar and Olivia Imprescia.

BRIDGEWATER — Brushing away a few tears, Andover’s Moira Cronin allowed a brief smile to show through her sadness.

“This is a tough way for it to end,” she said. “But it has been one unbelievable season. On the bus ride home, we’re not going to sit in silence. Even though we lost, even though we’re sad, we’re still going to sing and be our same goofy selves. That’s the kind of team we are.”
