Jake MacKinnon netted a hat trick and freshman Andrew Heinze of North Andover had 18 saves as Brooks improved to 2-0 in boys hockey with a 5-2 win over BB&N.

Bean, Beech honored

Senior forward Meghan Bean and senior defender Talia Beech were Pentucket's honorees on the 17-player All-Cape Ann League field hockey team. Junior midfielder Meg Arnette was named a CAL All-Star.

Masco's Mak Graves (Kinney) and Georgetown's Jenny Lerner (Baker) are the MVPs while North Reading's Andrea Slaven (Kinney) and Amesbury Bethany Noseworthy (Baker) are the Coaches of the Year.

Kukas: 46 saves

 

North Andover's Caroline Kukas was awesome in net with 46 saves as Brooks defeated previously unbeaten BB&N 3-1 for its second straight win.

Brooks drops finale

Brooks dropped its season-finale to BB&N 42-14.
The Green-and-White trailed 35-0 before getting on the scoreboard in the fourth on a 64-yard touchdown pass from Connor Silva to John Fritz. Brooks capped the scoring when John Manzi ran for a 4-yard score. 
Silva finished with 88 passing yards, 84 of those to Silva. Manzi led Brooks with 48 rushing yards on six carries.

Miller nets game-winner

 

Junior Isabela Miller of North Andover scored the game-winner to keep Brooks unbeaten (12-0-1) in field hockey with a 2-1 victory over BB&N. Lucy Adams of Andover had two assists.

Trailing 1-0 at halftime, the Governor's Academy field hockey team roared back with four unanswered goals for a 4-1 win over BB&N. Samantha Davidson scored three goals and Isa Brown had one.

Kudos for Kukas

 

Brooks bowed out of the Big East tournament with a 9-3 loss to eventual champion BB&N but the Green and White defeated Tabor earlier in the day and Caroline Kukas had a terrific two-game performance, going 6 for 8 with 5 RBIs and 4 runs scored.

Phillips takes 2nd

 

Phillips Academy's softball team fell to BB&N 4-2 in the finals to finish second in the Big East Tournament. The Big Blue (14-3) managed just four hits off tourney MVP Rohan Park. Earlier, Phillips advanced by defeating Noble & Greenough 7-1, led by Colby Bere's 3 for 3 effort.
