Read More »Phillips Andover beat Exeter 122-64 to polish off its fourth straight unbeaten regular season (25 straight wins). This afternoon, the Andover Boys’ Swimming and Diving Team faced the challenge of Exeter. Andover entered the meet with a distinct advantage: the squad is at the midpoint in its rest preparing for Easterns while Exeter has yet to begin its rest preparing for New Englands. This gave the Andover swimmers a bit of an edge towards the end of races and led to a convincing win. The meet began with Tim Wynter ’14, Justin Wang ’13, Alex Li ’15, and rookie Scott Simpson ’14 winning the 200 Medley Relay in 1:39.87 Captain Joe Faller ’14 nearly even-split the 200 Freestyle and won in 1:43.88 with Travis Bouscaren ’14 in second in 1:48.35.

Phillips Academy sophomore Anoush Shehadeh continued to shred the opposition as she captured the Division 1 Prep cross country meet with an outstanding 3-mile time of 17:17 as the Big Blue fuinished third. Shehadeh has placed first in every meet this year.

Phillips Exeter completed its perfect season yesterday afternoon, running away from host Phillips Andover 35-9. It was Exeter's fifth straight victory in the series that began in 1878. It's the longest winning streak in the 132-game history since Andover won six straight from 1987-92 and one year shy of Exeter's longest streak of six from 1913-1918.

NORTH ANDOVER — The No. 8 Merrimack field hockey team exploded for two goals and 20 shots in the second half, and despite a late goal by the visitors, the Warriors would hold on to down Bentley University, 3-2, in the NCAA First Round last night, clinching the program’s second consecutive trip to the Final Four next weekend. Phillips Academy softball coach Peter Drench won his 300th and 301st games as the Big Blue swept Phillips Exeter with successive 3-2 decisions to finish their season at15-3. Kayla Maloney was the winner in the first game, striking out 16 despite being shaken up in a home plate collision and Ravenne Nasser picked up the win in the second game, thanks partly to the hitting of Kayla Thompson, who was 3 for 5 on the day.
