The Phillips Academy girls cross country team finished its second straight undefeated regular season, clipping Phillips Exeter 21-34. Carmen Bango, Methuen's Peyton McGovern and North Andover's Michaela Jones finished 1-2-3. Bango and McGovern had personal-best 5K times of 18:10 and 18:16 respectively on the Big Blue's course.

Razor thin win

The Phillips Academy girls track team concluded its season with a thrilling, razor thin victory over arch rival Phillips Exeter, 73-72. Senior captain Charli Jarvis anchored the winning 4x400 relay to secure the victory. Jarvis, heading to Stanford University in the fall, also won the 100 meter dash and anchored the winning 4x100 relay. Sarah Humes won the high jump and the 300 hurdles, while Michaela Jones of Andover won the 1500.   
Caroline Shipley of Andover won the 400 and ran on both winning relays.

Amazing Season

Georgetown's Thomas Lane, in his final Phillips Andover appearance, poured it on Phillips Exeter as the Big Blue rolled, 7-3, to finish the year at 16-5.
Lane, who earned the save with five innings of shutout ball, fanning 10, finished his season at 7-0 with three saves, allowing a mere two earned runs all year.

Pitching, pitching, pitching

Phillips Andover flaunted its pitching might in a doubleheader sweep of rival Phillips Exeter. Georgetown's Thomas Lane needed but 80 pitches to dispatch Exeter in the opener, a 3-hitter with five strikeouts. Taylor Beckett had a pair of RBI hits in a 3 for 3 game. Jake Nelson fanned 11 of the first 13 batters he faced and didn't allow a run of six innings in the nightcap, a 4-3 Andover win.

Clutch hitting

 

With North Andover's Colby Bere and North Reading's Maddie Comer both driving in two runs, Phillips Academy remained unbeaten (6-0) with a 10-0 rout of Phillips Exeter. Ravenne Nasser of Methuen got the win with a three-hitter, striking out seven in the five-inning game.

It was a long year for Phillips (8-15-3), but retiring coach Dean Boylan went out in style. The Big Blue rallied from a 3-1 deficit to stun Exeter, 5-3, handing the Exies (24-3-2) just their third loss of the year.

Gadson Lefft forced OT with a 3-pointer with two seconds left but Exeter went on to beat Phillips Andover 55-52. Lefft had 18 and Cara Cavanaugh added 16 points.

Rosenberger, Gottfried win prep titles

A pair of North Andover residents won New England Prep titles to lead Brooks to a second-place finish. Forty-six teams scored. Exeter won with 233 points and Brooks, the defending champs, scored 180.
