Andover dominated Somerville 3-1 in the first round of the Div. 1 tournament. MacKenzie Koravos, Jess Morrow and Kacie McManus scored for the Warriors, who will face the Framingham-Salem winner, probably Wednesday.

Andover blanks Somerville to qualify for states.

Andrew Osborne made a whopping 14 saves as Andover qualified for the Division 1 North tournament with a 3-0 victory over Somerville. Kaelan Crawford, Sam Percival and Matt Liedes each scored a goal, and Kerrick Stevens, Rob Martin and Alex Golan each added an assist.

Lorenzo leads Lawrence

With one game to go in the regular season, Lawrence downed Somerville 25-12, 25-12, 25-13 to improve to 15-3. Jadith Lorenzo had a team-high 13 kills and 16 assists, while Karina Lopez tallied 14 service points and two aces. The Lancers face Andover tomorrow to wrap up their season.

Reggies struggle in opener

SOMERVILLE — Greater Lawrence managed only 118 yards of total offense last night as the Reggies fell 21-7 to Somerville High School at Dilboy Stadium.

“We’re a young team,” Greater Lawrence head coach Tony Sarkis said of his club, the defending Division 4 Super Bowl champion. “We have a lot of young guys out there who do make mistakes, but I think as the year goes on, as it progresses, we’re going to be ok.”

After knocking off Masconomet in the season finale to clinch a state-tournament berth, the No. 19 Fishermen were looking to make it 2-2 in win-or-go-home games when they faced off against No. 14 Somerville yesterday in the preliminary round of the Division 1 North Tournament.

Salem's Chasse tosses one-hitter

Salem freshman Sarah Chasse celebrated her varsity softball debut with a near no-hitter, struck out nine and walked two as the Witches routed Somerville, 11-1, in their season opener at Mack Park. Chasse was two outs from a no-hitter, giving up a single that was the only ball that Somerville hit to the outfield.

Methuen girls refuse to lose

Trailing after each of the first three quarters, the Methuen High girls simply refused to allow their season to end. Playing at Somerville in the Division 1 North opening round matchup, the Rangers rallied for 23 points in the fourth quarter, erasing a 42-39 deficit to defeat the host Hilltoppers, 62-55.
