Makayla Ferullo "took over the game in the third quarter" according to Methuen head coach Dave Giribaldi. The senior drilled three of her four 3s and scored 11 of her team-high 19 points in the third to lead the Rangers to a 62-47 win over Somerville. Ferullo's big game came on Senior Night, and it was the last game of the season for the Rangers.

Methuen opened by hammering Somerville 61-15. Stephanie Tardugno (13) and Katy Dorandi (10) hit double figures.

Connor Nusky scored and Joe Atwood made nine saves in net as Andover boys soccer earned a 1-1 tie with unbeaten Somerville (9-0-1).

This may have been the toughest one but Sunday's 72-56 win over Somerville put Andover into the state tourney in all 29-years of Dave Fazio's tenure at AHS. Andover is now 10-10 overall but the Christmas Tourney loss to St. John's Prep doesn't count toward MIAA standings so they are in at 10-9 with Monday's game vs. Marlboro remaining. Kyle Rocker had 23 points and Emmett Kim 17 in the win. The win was the 447th for Fazio at Andover (447-210).

Behind a game-high 14 points by captain Telaisha Solier, Lawrence earned its first victory since Feb. 15, 2015 with a 55-44 win over Somerville. The Lancers were 0-20 last season and dropped their opener this winter. 

In his last potential game, Andover senior Panos Kareklas scored his first varsity goal in a 5-1 loss to Somerville.

Methuen put together another impressive win, blitzing Somerville 3-0. Laura Staugler shined with 21 assists and Abby Sullivan owned the net with 16 kills and three blocks.

Trailing 8-3 in the fifth and decisive game, Greater Lawrence rallied to beat Somerville 25-16, 25-19, 23-25, 17-25, 15-11, Juan Perez (12 service points) and Anthony Martinez (30 assists) led the Reggies.

Haverhill's boys volleyball team opened its season with a three-game sweep of Somerville as Declan Davis led the way. He has 11 kills, 7 digs and 7 aces.

Haverhill got 31 points from Navin Cruz, but it wasn't enough as the Hillies fell to Somerville 63-61 to end the team's postseason hopes. Haverhill, who lost their last three straight, end the year 9-11 and miss the tournament by one game.
